The Spiritual Sabbath
First of all, let’s make sure we differentiate between the keeping of the Sabbath on a particular day, which would be akin to a shadow world observance, and the real Sabbath which is Christ.
Since provincial mind pictures of the Sabbath ( a particular day) must be overwritten into new mind pictures, let’s revisit Genesis to recreate a proper mind image of the Sabbath which is Christ. (By the way Christ is not Jesus’s last name) Jesus was the physical personifaction and embodyment of the Christ. Since Christ is the essence of the Sabbath, and not explicitly a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday let’s agree there is a difference between the two Sabbaths views that has not been so noted. One is terrestrial and the other celestial.
Ok, back to Genesis. First of all the proper Hebrew rendering of Gen 1:1 is “ From aforetime manifold God (Elohim) had created the heavens and it’s matter.“ This is quite different then the modern translations….which say it this way…”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” It least they get the heaven(s) correct, in as much as there really is a difference between the universal heaven(s) and Heaven itself.
So, we at the beginning of our study can see a great difference between what was originally written as opposed as to what has come down through time. This should at least alert us to the possibilty that our word mind picture of the Sabbath may possibly be inacurate. ( note: we are not at all or in any way anti-bible as some claim, but we are we are merely trying to get the most accurate mind picture) The Bible is the closest written work we have under the sun that brings light as to God and the things of God. We must realize however, there have been alterations over time that aren’t necessarily wrong, but a slight edging away from the original text; texts that give us a more accurate and clearer focus and picture.
We find next that the earth was without form, or formless. When we think of earth we think globe, but here we find the earth exisiting in a chaoritc mass engulfed, perhaps dissolved is a better word, into the rest of the star matter. So for sure, at that point it was not a globe form, but existed as part of the rest of the choatic mass of all star mattter, in a compaction or density.
“And darkness was over the face of the deep” Most people think of the deep as the oceans, but that is a false mind picture. The idea here is that the matter was imprisioned in the void of darkness.
This picture conveys a starless universe, hence before time as we know it existed. There can be no time if there is no distance; such as star to star. The setting up of stars created distance; from star to star, hence it takes time to travel from star to star. Before the stars were stretched out there was no time, as we understand time.
Until the “Spirit” brooded over the mass density and caused a thunder (big bang) the matter was dark and in one place. Once the matter was radiated with aura light it set in motion the expanse and the stars stretched forth from the radiated matter and there was aura light.
Then, Elohim separted the spiritual light from the darkness. Elohim called the day dawning and the night settings. And God said, “ it was so.” Modern translations say, “the morning and the evening, and then Elohim God said it “was good,” but the appropriate language is dawning and settings, and Elohim said, “It was so.”
We are pointing these differences though suttle, so that there it can seen clearly that the original language is somewhat different then the mordern translations. These details paint a different mind picture, and we will come to see how this affects and will change our view of the true Sabbath.
It takes a good deal of effort to break out of traditional relgious dogmas which become ingrained mind sets. The mind picture of the Sabbath is one of many; albeit, a very important one.
If we are to press on toward an openness to higher thoughts and greater true spirituality we must begin with how we build our world view and our conceptualization of existence into mind pictures.
