The Formatting of your Mind Mental breakdown -serial murderers-idiosyncrasy.
The study of psychology has become the western world’s new religion; the study of the mind. The subject is as vast as the human mind itself.
Several years ago I had a stunning experience that shocked me, but opened my mind to the beginning of an important study. The study was not from books, but rather was the observation of people and the noticeable psychological changes that occur as they pass through this life. What happens to people as they go through life? How is it so many go from a seemingly healthy personality to a disorderly one?
The occasion that sparked my curiosity came at a football game at my alma mater the University of Oregon. Before every fall game there is an enormous pre-game indoor meeting place where thousands of fans gather to enjoy the festivities of the pre-game celebration. There in the gigantic hall, that subs for an indoor football arena where the team will often practice during inclement Oregon weather, there is the lettermen’s booth. This is where all the former Oregon football players gather to reminisce over their past glory days.
It was at this location I ran into a girl I had once dated in college. She was the sister of one of my former teammates. I hadn’t seen her in over forty years. While we had only dated one time I had a vivid memory of her, because she was a young and very outgoing vivacious young lady. Now forty years later she was an ingrown negative and depressed woman. She had totally changed into the opposite of what I had remembered of her. What in God’s name, I thought, had happened to her? It was shocking to say the least. What changed this person so radically? What happens to anybody, for that matter, that goes through a radical personality alteration?
Now that I am a grandfather for the first time and soon to be a grandfather again, I ponder the beginnings of the lives of the brand new members of my family. I wonder how my sons will raise their children. How does anyone raise their children and what impact do those formative years have on a person’s entire life?
Over the last twenty years or so the arrival of the home computer has literally revolutionalized the world. The changes while so rapid scarcely leave time to consider that computers were fashioned from the very inner working of the human being. While computers are machines we can learn from them since they are in many respects shadows of our selves.
The consideration I want to emphasize in this regards is this…the way we program the computer is what they will default too. It is very much the same for humans. The way in which humans are programmed is the way in which they will default.
The consideration of this premise is enormous.
The epidemic of children born out of wedlock is an alarming problem because you can bet that the parenting and lack of bonding is thus creating a massive programming problem, and down the road a massive social catastrophe.
We all have negative issues that exist in various degrees along a spectrum that come from these inadequate programming failures. It is like the laying of a concrete foundation of a house that is not level. You don’t really notice it at first, but as the building goes up it is crooked and out of plumb.
In the later years of our lives the ensuing idiosyncrasies, abnormalities, and the extreme psychotic aberrations not obvious in our younger days, are the result of an improper foundation; such as in the case of my old friend from college.
Our newspapers are full of the stories of some of these extreme cases of people make us scratch our heads in disbelief. Yet in light of the countless never ending stories we mustn’t forget to deal with our own issues. For every human being has been built to some degree with an unleveled and misaligned foundation.
The good news is that if there has been an inadequately, or inaccurately programmed mind there can be a reprogramming. But it takes courage, honesty and a willingness to face the truth. If we will open our eyes to the improper wiring that took place early we can be rewired. But to see ourselves in the right light we must develop a different perspective to look from.
Are you ready to be reformatted? Let’s take a look at the beginning, because this is what and where we unconsciously default to. I will call this the way we see it, or more personally the way you see it. continued…. Ken – The Kingdom of Heaven is Within
