Powers of the Age to Come
What is a core belief for one might be totally out of the realm of thought for another. So, let’s look for something universal that may or might be a core belief. What can we find that we all share, something in common that could make up a core belief for the whole of the human race.
We are all going to die. Yes, the whole world believes that death is inevitable, and it is a core belief. Go to India, Africa, Europe, Asia, anywhere and death is the fundamental core belief the common thread that links every human.
I hate death! I read the obituary every day for two reasons. One to see if any one died that I may have known or know. Two, I like to read the stories about peoples lives.
Keith Ledger, the actor, just died a few days ago. As of this moment they are trying to find out why this 28 year old man died so suddenly. The American cinematic world mourns, but what about the child who died in Cairo this morning in anonimity. No one even noticed. I hate death! I even hate it when animals die. Yet we are all appointed to die. Each has a rendezvous with death. No one escapes the magnetic pull of the black hole of death. We despertly try to elongate our physical life span trying to cheat death just for a few more breaths to breath, but even if we succeed in prolonging life we will surely die. Life we deem as precious. It is a gift. But maybe that view is the wrong core belief. What? What then is life here on earth and how is it to be understood?
Why this desperate clutching; this holding on? Why do we mourn so much for those that have gone ahead of us? What is it and why do we fear so much?
What we do to try and circumvent the inevitable runs the gamut. You name it humans do it. For example, if you knew you were going to die tomorrow because an asteroid was going to end life on earth what would you do? That is not a far fetched impossibility. In fact there are those that speculate that that could happen at any time.
What happens when we die? This thought we suppress for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that we tend to think negative about the prospect. But the Old Testament tells us that cursed is the day a man is born and blessed it is the day he dies. How backward that seems to our reasoning’s. We also find another interesting scripture, “How precious in the sight of God is the death of His godly ones.”
God finds it precious when we die? Is that because he can’t wait to judge us? What a morbid thought! But it seems quite an anomaly when we are constantly confronted with the idea of Gods’ judgement awaiting us. How do we reconcile this conflicting ideas?
Our death is precious to God because he loves us, but we still have to be judged. We fear death because it is unknown. Will it be pass or fail? Will we move forward or fall backward?
Until we deal with this issue ( death and the fear of death) in our current life we are in a terrible bondage.
I am 62 now and I think about how much time I may have left before I face the door. When you are young you do not consider such a thought, but as you age it becomes more present. But I came to the consideration of death long ago when I was 25, and so for the most part I am not afraid. I still want to live long and I do love life, but it is more about what I want to accomplish rather than just living a long life.
Nevertheless, as I look at my body I am watching the disease of aging overtake me. At one time I was a handsome lad, now after 62 years my body is getting old and uglified. This is the inevitable disease of aging brought about by sin, and it affect us all. We are watching a fatal disease slowly winning. No amount of exercise nor proper diet can stop it. You cannot accumulate enough money to circumvent the problem. It is coming. Rich or poor, male or female white, black , yellow, red, or brown, no matter what color of the human race, we are watching and witnessing the end coming upon us. How do we deal with this? I hate death! Even it’s approach.
But even when we think we may have a clue to the answer that may give peace, it slips away from our conscious mind under a pile of temporal duties and chores. Then whenever the thought or consideration concerning death arises again, we have to deal with the unpleasant subject. I hate death!
What I have come to know and appreciate, I mean really appreciate, is that God hates death too, so should you. That is the very reason why He visited this world. God hates death! Death is an abnormality. It was never intended that we should ever die. But sin (the breaking of Universal codes) entered this world (from the outside-from the angel world) through Adam and death came as a result. The horror of sin had to become manifest through death to show us the terrible nature of it. I hate death, but rather I need to hate sin, because death is the resultant affect of sin.
The horrible nature of sin which occurred first in the angel world has come here to earth life. Now as we watch it come upon us all stir up your ancient memories and see that we should hate sin.
Look what it is doing to you and me, and the death that it brings. Look at old people as death approaches and hate sin. Let their condition remind you of the retched nature of sin. Then invert in your mind what you see and let their condition remind you that death is an abnormal conditon and God has come to earth and has overcome death. Praise be to God through Jesus Christ.
In the predicament of our situation (the earth experience) our Father Yavael, came to rescue us from the consequence (human bodies) of sin (bodies that default to sin) and grant to us through His human office (Jesus Christ) the promise of eternal life (restoration to our heavenly bodies) and the release from the fear of death.
To those who have accepted His salvage mission, while it remains a promise, it is made more sure by the down payment of the promise through the giving of the Holy Spirit. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the experience of the powers of the age to come.
Those who have tasted this power know that death is not the end but the doorway into the fullness of powers of the age to come.
Let us not be bound by religious dogma, the teaching of men, nor the traditions of culture. His energy and limitless mind given today by the Holy Spirit in this present life is ever increasing.
